Winemaker
Nuno Cancela
The Gandarada brand pays homage to a historic episode that marked the Gândara region during the Battle of Bussaco, in 1810. The story of courage and camaraderie of General Robert Craufurd and José Ferreira Tavares, who welcomed the military leader into Casa Gandarada, symbolizes the essence of friendship and hospitality that define this land.
Today, this story lives on in every bottle of Gandarada, carefully crafted by winemaker Nuno Cancela de Abreu, great-great-grandson of José Ferreira Tavares. Gandarada wines reflect the passion for the land, the dedication to viticulture and the connection between past and present, keeping the memory of this family legacy alive.
